Wattam at PAX

This past weekend, we were invited to show Wattam at PAX as a part of the Indie MegaBooth, in support of the BitSummit!

BitSummit is a Japanese indie developer event that celebrates the awesome independent games movement taking Japan by storm! You can see coverage for this amazing grassroots festival here, which includes demonstrations of some of our favorite new indie titles, including Galak-Z and Thumper.

This was only our second time showing the game in public. And of course we were very nervous about how it would all go. Setting up the booth, decorating it with balloons and sorting our t-shirts took a lot longer than expected, and we were up till late just getting ready.

But as soon as the show opened, we were surrounded by really lovely people, some fans... some new to Funomena and the work of Keita Takahashi. It was a fantastic experience, just hanging out with people, talking about the game, and seeing the t-shirts fly from the shelves.

Keita came on Saturday and Sunday, to sign t-shirts, and hang out with some of the cool folks who came to visit. We were pleased to be met by such a warm and fun audience!!

We also made a special appearance on the Twitch stream at the Polaris booth. It was a super fancy setup where we got to play the game live and talk about what inspired it. Keita was, as usual, a bit shy. :D Here we are, being silly in their space-age lounge behind the scenes...

The best thing about being at the Indie MegaBooth was of course getting to see all the great indie games, and fellow developers who came by, played, gave us hugs and made silly faces. It's easy to stay heads-down on your game, to want to avoid the travel and hassle of trips. But every time we do an event, seeing people play and connecting with friends really is re-energizing.

It was also just great to see people who hadn't even heard of us enjoying the game so much that they bought multiple t-shirts, or came back to the booth with friends and family. We even had a couple folks come on multiple days, just to hang out and talk to us about the game.

Thanks to the MegaBooth, Intel, BitSummit, Sagar Patel, and everyone who came to support us, play and have fun! Especially the many amazing families, couples and fans who came just to experience playing the game with us.
