Regarding Recent Events

Funomena is a small business that makes games, but we do not exist in a vacuum. And so, we choose to speak out.

We are affected by events in our families, our communities, and in the world. The recent anti-immigration actions taken by the government are harmful for several reasons. They send refugees back to the terrible and dangerous war zones that they have struggled to escape. They keep family members separated from each other across the world. They keep talented game creators with unique viewpoints stuck under oppressive regimes that censor their work. Funomena has friends who are directly affected by these new restrictions, and we fear for their safety and for their future.

If you are also concerned, please speak out. Every voice matters.

New Frontiers

We're pleased to be included in today's announcement of Annapurna Interactive!

The artistry and diversity of interactive storytelling is exciting, and we look forward to exploring the limitless possibilities in gaming,” said Ellison, who is the daughter of Oracle founder and billionaire Larry Ellison. “We want to empower artists across this medium to make Annapurna Interactive their home, and I believe we’ve assembled the perfect team to make that happen.”

Annapurna Interactive is set to publish two games with release dates targeted for spring 2017: Jason Roberts’ “Gorogoa,” a hand-illustrated story inside a puzzle game in which players move panels on a grid as though arranging framed drawings on a wall; and Giant Sparrow’s “What Remains of Edith Finch,” described as a playable collection of short stories, each with different art styles and gameplay mechanics centered around the cursed Finch family.

In addition, Annapurna Interactive plans to release games from industry talent including San Francisco-based developer Funomena and creative director Keita Takahashi, creator of the “Katamari Damacy” franchise, and Mountains, which is led by Ken Wong, best known for his work on puzzle game “Monument Valley.”

It's lovely to be in such great company, with such great games & creative talent - and we look forward to talking with you more about this development next year.

Woorld arrives today!

Hello hello hello! Today, the whimsical Tango experience WOORLD is available for download on the Google Play store with the the magical Lenovo Phab2Pro phone!

What is Tango? It's is a set of sensors and computer vision software that enables augmented reality (AR) experiences on your smartphone, including utilities, gaming and education, so you can do more, play more and explore more. The Phab 2 Pro is the very first Tango enabled smartphone - which means that you can now play Woorld for yourself!

We made Woorld with first-time AR users in mind - creating something that's part game, part creativity app... and all silliness. Curious to see more? Check out this little video that Keita made to help announce the game at Lenovo's most recent event in Japan.

We are super excited to release this little game to the public, and are really looking forward to see what you make with it. Tag us in your #WOORLD videos with @funomena @projecttango and @lenovo so we can see your world in a whole new way.
